Three Idea Concepts

After choosing my song and having time to research into the genre of my artist and find inspiration, I came up with general ideas on how I would like to create my video in a way that would appeal to my target audience. Here are the three following ideas in which I have come up with;

Concept 1

For my first initial idea, I have the notion to follow a storyline based narrative about a boy and girl with the boy not been good enough for the girl. Within the video I want there to be a heavy focus on the mise en scene such as setting, location, props and costume, for example as the boy is not good enough for the girl his costume would resemble a troubled, perhaps alcoholic/drug addict. As the narrative progresses I have the idea that boy and girl realise they both love each other not matter how much different they are in terms of loyalty and status. Therefore the clear message is a study of love.

Concept 2

For my second concept I have the idea of the narrative been abstract and focusing on themes of love and heartbreak. For this video it would rely heavily on editing as I wanted there to be a good use of different transitions to create the abstract effect. I would take objects associated with the lyrics, as the lyrics are focused mainly on love and troubled relationships the certain objects associated would be broken vases to signify the trouble and flowers to signify the love side of the lyrics. However the story itself would not be necessarily that clear to the audience but there will be definite significance of love and heartbreak for the audience to relate to.

Concept 3

For my final concept I have the idea to have a storyline based narrative but rely heavily on editing and mise en scene to create an effective music video. The underlying storyline would be similar to my first concept however the boy realises he has messed up in his life and wants his girl back. The storyline would focus on this however I would have specific shots that are abstract to the storyline but has significance to the underlying messages and values of the lyrics.

I have decided to go with concept number 3 because I believe the idea will suit best and relate to my target audience and genre effectively. I think because of the clear narrative it will be easy for my target audience to follow, however I will include various shots outside the narrative that will make the video become more effective and creative linking to the genre of my artist which is indie/pop.
